COUNTRY MUSIC IN PORTUGAL
COUNTRY MUSIC CAFE/BAR  #271 RUA DE ALPORTEL, FARO
Rich is a singer / songwriter and musician who lives with his wife and children in England.
He was born in Baltimore, MD, USA, and grew up in a rural suburb called Carroll County.
From the age of eight, Rich performed in vocal ensembles, acted in plays and played brass
instruments in band. The son of an operatic soprano, music has been in his blood from day
one. There are even pictures of Rich with a guitar in his hand as a toddler.

Rich began writing melodies in his early teens, but it wasn’t until 1991 that he got serious
about his craft. Over the past 15 years he has been hard at work developing his style of
playing and writing. He started with Christian music and contemporary and country followed
soon after. Rich moved to England on business in 2000, and quickly found places to surround
himself with the best area talent. Over the past 5 years he has concentrated on songwriting
and performing in local venues.  While in the UK, Rich has performed with the likes of John
Popper of Blues Traveler, Tom Shepherd (writer of “Riding with Private Malone”), Willie Mack
(www.williemack.com), and Wil Nance (www.hitwriters.com/willnance-f.htm).
Rich is an NSAI member (Nashville Songwriters Association International / www.
nashvillsongwriters.com) and highly recommends membership for those interested in honing
the songwriter within them. Rich says it has opened many doors for him and he has made
contacts which are currently showing interest in his talent.  One of his latest creations, “God
Bless the Beer Drinkers” ©Rich Fehle, is currently being reviewed by Mark Trail of Mark Trail
Music (www.marktrailmusic.com) in Nashville. Mark has written for several artists,
including the award winning Aimee Pettersen (http://www.aimeepettersen.com/).
Rich says his one desire over everything is to write songs that touch people and which they
can relate to. Visit

Born and raised in Zaandam, only a few miles away from Amsterdam,JJ proved to be made
for the music scene.
At age 14 he already performed with the Blue Rocking Strings, mainly at charity events.

Only 16 years old,he became one of the founding members of The Devotions and toured
Holland, Germany and Belgium and recorded their first 45¹s.

After a few members were drafted, the band broke up and JJ kept himself alive playing for
various local bands,experimenting various music-styles.

But finally JJ returned to his roots; Country Music. Now on stage his repertoire
stretches from the early songs of Hank Williams and Bob Wills' western swing,
via songs of George Jones, Merle Haggard and George Strait to today’s country music.

His breakthrough came when he was invited to come to the United States to record a CD.
For the recording of this CD 'Nothin' Wrong With Me' he was coupled with
veteran producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Scott Mathews .Scott worked with all
time greats as Johnny Cash,Glen Campbell, John Lee Hooker and Roy Orbison.

Scott Mathews wrote two songs for the CD, including the title song which he co-wrote with
Al Anderson, whom already had written hit songs for people like Tracy Byrd and Diamond
Rio.

The recording took place at the studio¹s of Ex'pression, Center of New Media in Emeryville
California.

The growing friendship and respect between JJ and Scott resulted in a sparkling,
almost sturdy master piece.

Already the CD has been nominated for best country CD in Belgium.

Marc Cridland,Born in the early 1960's in Balham Gateway to the South, the beginning of the
Hippy era. this period gave him his wanderlust and love for Country and Folk Music. He got his
first guitar for his tenth birthday present and it was not long before Marc was turning out a tune
and by the time he was thirteen Marc was out busking and playing in the club tents at the
Cambridge Folk Festival, and getting sessions in various Folk Clubs in the South East. After 3
years on the road, in his late teens, Marc based himself in Amsterdam and began studying the
new wave of Country Music that developed from the eighty's onward and writing Country songs
with an European point of view. After bumming around Austin (Texas) researching the
American attitude to English Country in 1994 he went to Nashville.Marc met up with Jerry
Taylor who's has produced Kenny Rodgers and many other great names in Nashville. On his
advice Marc came back to Europe to rewrite his songs in a better Country manner. Marc is
presently very busy in the studio recording--we are looking forward to his new CD!!!
